Talking about Prague…

It’s been 9 months since I set my foot here in this wondrous city. When I was a child, I only knew Prague as a mysterious city, land of mystifying small alleys and towers, statue and magic. Founded it in books but now in front of my eyes and actually living in the city. And how do I think about Prague now? It’s still is. The Gothic architecture and towers still always amazed me. Can’t believe that I’m living in such a interesting city…The cobble stoned narrow street, unpredictable alleyway, touch of Gothic dark and golden colors.

Lucky for me… my department is located really close to the infamous Charles Bridge, among many other bridges that connects the two sides of Prague that are separated by Vltava River. But don’t be surprised, bunch of tourists will be your main attraction in several tourist points such as Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Prague Castle, Wenceslas Square, and many others. In spite of that, it’s really nice to walk and find some quite places to enjoy the scenery alongside the river. But it’s not the only thing that this city offers, some modern touch comes along side by side neatly. You can get the metropolitan feel marked by modern expensive shops and offices, while walking in a nuanced old city.

Hmmm… where should I start…? OK let’s start with Charles Bridge or locally known as Karlův Most. This bridge is just few meters away from my faculty and always is crowded with tourists (which I can easily camouflaged as one of them, just by hanging my digital camera in my hand :D ). When you entered the gate from old town side, some Boat Trip sailors (if you can call them as sailors :p) are ready to offers you a Boat Trip (which I never tried). During the day, some really good street performances are ready to amuse you. There are also some painters that can draw really quick and nice. If you are lucky, sometimes appears couples of trumpet players playing their trumpets up on the bridge gate. And saints statues are the must-see things. Below and near the bridge you can find Kampa Park to relax and nearby there is Kampa Museum, a central European modern art museum. That is on the left side (or depending on your viewpoint) while on the right side of the bridge you can find Franz Kafka Museum. Hmm.. let’s not get too much further, and visit those others in other posts :)

For those who don’t believe in magic, you can say that it’s just a simple tourist attraction, but the way how Prague draws you, I will not say it as simple as that :)
